Liverpool are thought to be closing in on a deal for Birmingham winger Jermaine Pennant.
Blues on Tuesday confirmed they had turned down one bid of 3.5million from the Anfield club but sources close to the Coca-Cola Championship outfit claimed a deal was later agreed. The 23-year-old is now thought to be on his way to Liverpool for further talks.
Birmingham boss Steve Bruce had hoped for 8million for Pennant, due to a 25% sell-on clause agreed with Arsenal after his 3million signing last year, but a figure is thought to be around 6.25million.
